Submissions for Issue 2 are open!

The issue will be called Ars Erotica: The Hedonist




Ars Erotica, taken from Horace's 'Ars Poetica', references a mediation on the happenings of sex and intimacy. It refers to the qualities of understanding, to be anchored in truth and self.

Hedonist - a person who believes the pursuit of pleasure is the most important thing in life.




For this issue, Hellmouth will be accepting poetry (up to 5 poems), short fiction (up to 2000 words), script (up to 15 pages), creative non-fiction (up to 2000 words), visual artwork (up to 5 photographed pieces)

We are looking for works discussing: excitement, anxieties, regrets, desires, euphoria, disgust, all surrounding sex and intimacy or the absence of it. These are only guidelines and a submission may include all of, or hint at, the themes noted. 

Please consider that all submissions must be respectful and contain no specific mentions of people. We have zero tolerance and will NOT provide a platform for abusers.

Submissions are open until Friday the 1st of June 2024 00:00. All submissions (cover letter attached) should be sent to hellmouthlit@gmail.com with your full name and the form of your piece(s) as the subject. Submissions should be sent as a Microsoft Word Document or PDF and must include a 100-word biography. Simultaneous submissions are accepted, just let us know if your work is published elsewhere.
